Abstract
This poster will summarise the open educational resources (OERs) platform 'EdShare'. The open content platform which is running a number of successful institutional and subject specific OER spaces in the UK Higher Education community and beyond. These include: edShare@GCU (Glasgow Caledonian University), EdShare Southampton, eShare (Edge Hill University), Humbox, LanguageBox and more.
The platform, which originated from a Jisc funded institutional exemplars project in 2008, is now a stable and fully supported solution available from the University of Southampton to support the sharing and engagement with open educational resources (OERs) and emerging open education practices (OEP). The platform remains flexible to also support local sharing needs aiding the transition from closed to open.
The platform is built upon the open source digital content repository system EPrints, and has been heavily influenced by web 2.0 sharing sites to modernise the interface for diverse collections of educational content and to enhance the user experience.
This poster will highlight existing key features of the platform including streamlined submission, user community profiles, inline preview support, shareable editing rights, dissemination routes. Details will also be included on the future direction of EdShare and how you can get involved in shaping the development roadmap.
