Open Research Data: Experiences from UiT The Arctic University of Norway

Abstract:
UiT The Arctic University of Norway has a long history of working with Open Science. Open research data is a natural next step towards openness in science. Meeting open research data aspirations require operational services, infrastructure, competence and a road map for different stakeholders. In line with these requirements, UiT has taken important steps in managing and sharing research data after best practices. These include the establishment of UiT Open Research Data archive in September 2016. Since then, up to 600 datasets have been uploaded and made openly available. Moreover, seven other higher education institutions in Norway have partnered with UiT to set up their own research data archive under DataverseNO. Additionally, UiT has adopted a research data policy that came into effect in September 2017. 
The poster will outline the important steps and experiences in establishing the research data management infrastructure, training and support services at UiT the Arctic University of Norway.
